This summer my husband Joey quit his job as a top-producing mortgage guy to join me in photography and homeschooling the kids. I recently sent him to be second photographer on a shoot in Colorado. Function of the the Creative Eye…awesome. Function of the Lungs…not so good. Altitude sickness! The first aid guy at Steamboat had to give him oxygen and take him on the gondola back down the mountain! (Sorry babe…it had to be told)
This is his first post here, so give him some love! - Jolynne
…………………………………………..
It’s true…Steamboat Springs is over 9,000 feet above sea level and I had just flown in from California the night before.
(Yes, advice-givers…I DID drink a LOT of water. Still got altitude sickness. Note to self: show up a couple days early to Colorado weddings!)
Still, it was all worth it to see Laurie and Patrick tie the knot in such a beautiful setting! AND to learn from Jared Wilson…who’s not only a world-class wedding photographer but a guy who will generously share all his secrets over sushi.
Okay, less talk and more rock: THE PICTURES…

While Laurie & Patrick were walking they saw this mirror…a good opportunity for a picture or two.

I love the look on Patrick’s face when he sees his bride coming down the aisle.

Laurie’s Grandmother is a priest in the Episcopal church. She was so excited and a bit nervous before performing the wedding ceremony…but you couldn’t tell during the ceremony. She did great!

I was so stoked that this next picture actually made it onto Jared’s blog!

This little muffin man is the ring bearer. But instead of making him bear the ring, they let the little guy roll around on the grassy hillside during the ceremony, which, let’s face it, is a LOT more fun :) Everyone was very happy and laid back at this wedding.

Laurie’s so proud to show off her wedding ring to a bridesmaid…and Patrick’s pretty proud, too, by the looks of it :)

This next is my favorite shot of the day. (mine, too! – jolynne)

Speaking of Groomsmen…nice neckties, boys.

Recently a photography company named Totally Rad Actions released Dirty Pictures, a way of using textures when you develop photographs. I haven’t done that before, so I thought I’d give it a try on the last two pics. The sunset at Steamboat Springs that night was one of the most vivid and colorful that I have ever seen.

Congratulations, Laurie and Patrick! Enjoy your lifelong love. And thanks for letting me play a small part in your big day!
